This course teaches the principles of ARINC-424 coding: what it is, why it exists and how it works, in a way that allows flight procedure designers to better understand how trajectories are coded and used by flight management systems.
Learning outcomes
Having completed the course, the student should have a solid understanding of:
- the history of ARINC-424;
- the architecture of Flight Management Systems;
- the architecture of navigation systems;
- ARINC-424 paths and terminators;
- using ARINC-424 coding in practice.
Prerequisites
Attendees must have completed a basic flight procedure design training course in the last two years or be in current or recent practice as a procedure designer or in aeronautical charting.
The language of instruction is English. Attendees must be proficient at least to STANAG 6001 Level 3, ICAO Level 4 or CEFR Level B2.
Method of instruction
In-person classroom instruction. Lectures followed by practical exercises and debrief.
